I've heard good things about Trick Flow's intake...but I didn't like how the alternator had to be mounted backwards to clear the runners.

What about the stroker kit...who's doing the install? (is there any machine work that needs to be done to install it?) I'm getting a completely built longblock dropped in to save downtime when I'm ready.

i'd like to stroke to 5.0 too. the saleen PJ is stroked to 5.0 and puts out some awesome numbers with a blower.

EDIT: The PJ has a very high compression motor, therefore it is not ideal for a blower. The Saleen Extreme has a 5.0 w/ blower- I think its rated at 550 flywheel- i think.

I don't have a place to do the install yet, first I want to get the parts.
Let me know if You have a shop in mind.
I don"t really like the way the alternator has to be mounted, but the out come would make up for it.
As for machine work..
Confused
There is no mention on it, so hopefully it won't be much.

^^Yeah, I'm on the same boat as you. I don't know or feel comfortable with any shop around here to do engine/machining work for me....that's why I'm going with a complete built longblock from Modular Powerhouse. They deal with Pro-line engines. For the engine swap, I do feel comfortable having Junior at Ralph and John's do it for me. I also want the swap to be quick and painless...don't like the idea of leaving my car at a shop for 6-8 months with the engine out waiting for the machine work to be complete.

no idea. the only shops that i have heard of that might be capable of SUCCESFULLY completing a job like that seem to be Mustang Magic or JDM Engineering. A job liek this is weird though.. I wouldnt trust any shop to do it unless you are buddy buddy with the owners and workers, and spend time hanging out there while dropping a whole lotta dime on your car!!!

Mustang Magic, JDM Engineering and Realspeed are in my sights.
I know Realspeed does this type of work.
In the next few month I'll be driving to these shops and talk business.
I'm also willing to try shops in Jersey too.

i had my driveshaft and some suspension stuff installed at JDM and have absolutely nothing bad to say about them. they even bought me breakfast.... they are pricey but do top notch work. I would look into what kind of work they have done on your year mustang- there are some very fast s197's coming out of that shop. I saw some cobras and mach1's when i was there, and loads of lightnings, but nothing older than that.

I'll be ordering my trick flow Heads from fox lake....
http://www.foxlakeracing.com/mod2.php#
I just trying to decide if I should spend the extra $500 on ported heads.
I rather spend it on their P-51 intake manifold..

Tough call...if you do the ported heads now, you don't have to pull them off again to get them ported. You get more for the $$$ if you do the P-51 intake IMO. Powdercoated black. Smile

id do the ported heads now unless its just a waste of money. For $500, pay for labor only once.

interesting little writeup/comparison done by realspeed regarding the trickflow heads:
http://www.realspeedautomotive.com/tuneofweek.html

the car showed something like a 43 HP gain when installing the heads, cams and dynotune (along with a new MAF & BAP bc they were maxed out). According to Dan, the car is limited by the stock intake manifold as it does not flow as well as the heads.

by the way, the car has a vortech SC pushing about 8 psi. Its also non-intercooled. pretty good numbers right there IMO! Pretty expensive though considering the labor inolved with the SC install, head swap, cam swap, etc. Noel, being you already have the intercooled blower, this looks like a great mod for you!! Not sure what your options are for an intake manifold though?

The car they tested has the standard Vortech base model kit, mines is the H.O. with the power cooler.
I also have a power pipe,an upgraded ignition and upgraded fuel pump.
I just need to replace my MAF (because its max out) to the lighting MAF.
I am ordering the P-51 intake power-coated black to match the body.
If they got 409 hp with that set up, I should see around 430 to 450 hp with the set up I have and hopefully
close to 475 to 500 hp with the stroker kit.
Hows that for a sleeper ?
Who's going to think a 96 could do that.
